This is shocking, I don't really get why this is necessary.

Are the old I.D. cards responsible for Ghana's inability to produce enough food to feed the itself?
Or did the old I.D. cards contribute to energy problem?

There are more pressing issues for the government to focus on.

Who comes up  with these ideas anyway?

Vice Presidents commissions toilet

The Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has become subject of ridicule on social media for commissioning a public toilet in a fishing community in Accra. - Infoboxdaily.com

The vice president noted that the introduction of the facility into the country had come as a welcome relief to households that are still battling with the provision of public places of convenience for tenants, adding that it would reduce or eliminate the rampant defecating along beaches and other places. - myjoyonline.com

Now every illness is being suspected of being Ebola. I have a heard about how Ebola is even killing those who are NOT infected.

There is a man in Monrovia, Liberia who took his sick mother (who didn't show any symptoms of Ebola) to hospital (the Redemption Hospital) only to be turned away because the hospital didn't take Ebola patients, so he took his mother to another hospital (the ELWA Hospital) but he was told they only took Ebola patients...click here to read full story. After series to attempts his mother later died, the most interesting thing was, his mother was buried as though she had Ebola.-  KCRA

Cure For Ebola Virus Found In Ghana?

Accra based Jerusalem Pentecostal Church, Bishop Prophet Laud Sowatey Lomotey, source: modernghana.com
According to modernghana.com, the 65-year-old founder of Accra based Jerusalem Pentecostal Church, Bishop Prophet Laud Sowatey Lomotey, ... claims he got the revelation on how to cure Ebola when he decided to commit to prayers to ask God for directions in view of the current outbreak ... the process involves just a mixture of leaves and vegetables...
“God has revealed the cure to me and it is very simple. He has asked me to meet the appropriate people and tell them to take action but am reluctant. I told God I don’t want fame so I cannot do it, then God asked me two serious questions which I wasn’t able to answer.
“Do you want to wait for Ebola to hit Ghana before you try the medicine? Will you be able to apply the medicine alone from border to border?”
He calls on state institutions to get in touch with him for divine directions as to how to prevent the Ebola virus from entering Ghana and also how to cure it completely...read more
Maybe we shouldn't be quick to disregard his findings, ... the country should put him to the test.

ECG's Board Chairman, Oteng Gyasi, Resigns

Mr. Tony Oteng Gyasi confirmed to Joy Business Friday that reasons for his resignation are personal.

However, sources say the industrialist (who is also the Managing Director of Tropical Cables and Conductors Limited) cited health reasons as grounds for his resignation.
He was appointed a year ago in September 2013 to turn around the ECG, a power distributor that has largely been bedeviled with inefficiency- mjoyonline.
He tendered in his resignation letter last week but the President was yet to respond to it. His resignation comes at a time when the power sector is going through challenges. - myghanaonline

Longer Blackouts Starting Thursday - Joy News

Photo: Homedit

I got this info from the Joy Fm website, I hope we aren't slowly but surely going back to the stone-age.

Consumers have been asked to brace themselves for longer hours of blackouts starting Thursday morning as the Electricity Company of Ghana is forced to shed a record estimated 500 megawatts of electricity.
Following an abrupt cut in the supply of gas from Nigeria, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Grid Company, William Amuna told Joy News, Ghana will from today begin shutting down all gas powered thermal plants across the country.

“We are now relying on the gas stored in the pipeline and as we deplete: that means we will have to shut down those plants. It is important that we go into serious conservation of energy”, he said. Joy NewsClick Here to Read more

I think we need a course on How to light your house without electricity. The country has great inventors like Asidu AbuduDr. Kwadwo Safo  and others,...they can be sponsored to conduct research into alternative energy sources for the country.

I wonder where I could get cheap high quality solar panels to buy.

Romance Scam Originated from Ghana Led Man to Suicide

This is a sad news item I came across about a man from Yonker, New York who was driven into committing suicide due to an internet romance scam, the perpetrators are believed to be from Ghana.

'I saw him sitting in a chair with a bullet in his head,' Circelli's son Peter revealed at the time.
The family found piles of Western Union transaction records for $300 transfers to Ghana, a country in West Africa widely known for its romance and riches scams.'- Dailymail

He made a series of payments to her, amounting to a few hundred dollars at a time, but which eventually mounted up to $50,000. In order to make the payments to an account in Ghana, Circelli took out loans, credit cards in his son's name, and stopped making the mortgage payments on his home, which eventually went into foreclosure. "He lost everything. He was so ashamed that he killed himself."nytimes

ECG to releases load shedding timetable on Thursday

From tv3network;
The Managing Director of the Company William Hutton Mensah of ECG, hinted that they will release a guide to the current power-rationing exercise on Thursday, September 18, 2014
Due to circumstances such as maintenance work on some major plants, water reduction in at Akosombo Dam and the Bui hydroelectric dam not been fully operational, the country is at the moment shedding between 200 megawatts and 250 megawatts of energy.
The VRA has, however, assured that the situation will stabilize by the end of the month.
In times like these, investing in a personal power source sounds like a good idea. The government should probably subsidize the cost of solar panels and maybe organize science fair programmes to allow inventors to exhibit ideas to aid resolve this power crisis. What do you think?

Bukom Banku’s wife initiated as fetish priestess returns from sacred forest

Local boxer, Braimah Kamoko may have taken his enigma to a brand new level after revealing to Allsports.com.gh his excitement at the impending arrival on Friday of his fetish priestess wife, Amoah Woyoo known in the fetish realm as Ohua Broni.

Kamoko’s wife has been in traditional incarceration in the sacred forest at Bortianor, near Accra over the past four months taking tutorials and final initiation into the fetish priesthood and will be outdoored and commissioned to begin full work as fetish priestess.
“I’m delighted because of all the problems I’ve gone through since she left, I’m delighted that finally my wife is coming and I know the powers will come plenty. From now on, any opponent that comes near me for a fight I will use my wife’s powers to kill him in the ring,” the boxer told Allsports.com.gh.
According to Ga traditions, she has powers to perform fetish duties including healing the sick and offering protection to her beloved, chief among them Bukom Banku himself who confessed he misses her greatly.
“I am, therefore, begging the promoter of my upcoming fight, McDon Atitsogbe to bring coffin and ambulance to ringside because what is going to happen to John Napari is untold. I will beat him mercilessly,” Banku warned.
“I’m pleading with all my fans including President Mahama and Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga to come and support me to welcome my wife home. We’ll even use the powers to support John Mahama to win the 2016 elections,” Banku said.
